Chocolate Without Fear

I've watched as the
gentle breeze walked
hand in hand with the clouds
across the sky.

When I think of you,
I feel myself that high.
That frightened me once,
as I also know how it feels
to fall that far.

Too young to join me
at the local bar,
old enough to wave
and smile from your car.

Memories comfort me
and cut me.
I turned away too often
too long.
When I turned back
your smile belonged to another
and you are just gone.

Too young for the bar,
old enough to smile from your car.
And now we both know who you are.

When I said no,
that was not true.
What I meant to say,
is, I Love You.

Gentle breeze . . .
chocolate on your blouse,
my hands on your hips.
Clouds and sighs,
winter sky blue eyes.
